Chief Instructor - Southampton Water Activities Centre

£22,000 - £26,000 + Benefits

Full Time 40 hour contract

Active Nation are looking for a Chief Instructor at Southampton Water Activities Centre (SWAC) to lead the team and assist in developing the facility.

Can you inspire, encourage and motivate your team AND our supporters (customers) to be more active?

SWAC is a busy RYA Training Centre located near Southampton’s Ocean Village, with quick access to some of the best training and cruising waters on the south coast. The centre boasts a range of water sport experiences alongside a wide variety of sailing, powerboating, windsurfing, paddle boarding, and specialist one day courses.

No two days will be the same and you will need to:

  • Hold a range of outdoor sailing qualifications to enable you to lead sessions (minimum qualifications: RYA Senior Dinghy Instructor and RYA Powerboat Instructor)
  • Be passionate about sport and exercise, particularly outdoor activities and watersports
  • Be responsible for managing, motivating and developing your team
  • Be responsible for operational performance and increasing participation.
  • Lead on instructor recruitment, selection, training and mentoring
  • Maintain safety, operational and service standards
  • Develop excellent relationships with key supporters and partners to further develop the centre
  • Demonstrate a conscientious approach to resource management and have an aptitude for equipment maintenance
