  • Are you a born leader and team manager with an entrepreneurial approach?
  • Can you take the initiative, assume control and handle responsibility?
  • Managing one of our stores can be hugely rewarding … Are you up to the challenge?

The Chesterford Group is an award-winning and environmentally-aware family business founded in 1923. We serve over 3 million high-quality meals every year from 40 fish and chip shops in the south east of England, under 3 brands: fishnchicknChurchill’s and Bankers.

We are on a mission to save the future of the great British tradition of fish and chips … and we need your help!

What will I be doing?

Store Managers are the ship’s captains of our business. You will be responsible for leading and managing a happy and productive crew, and for consistently delivering the “excellent” quality of products and customer service on which the success of our business depends.

To achieve that, you will receive all the training and support you need as well as a comprehensive store operation procedure manual as your guide.

You will be your store’s customer champion, ensuring that you and your colleagues deal with any and all customer concerns in a timely and effective manner.

You will be responsible for preparing and cooking menu items, positive team management and appraisals, crew meetings, stock, expenditure, rotas, training, health and safety, banking, security and hygiene. You will work closely with the Operations Manager to maximise store turnover and profitability in an ethical manner.

What qualifications, qualities and experience do I need?

  • A relevant qualification in food safety, standards and/or hygiene
  • Food and cash handling, fire and first aid training and experience
  • Good levels of fitness and stamina
  • Leadership, communication and management skills
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure at busy times
  • Willingness to work unsocial hours, over a seven day per week pattern

What can I expect in return?

As a Store Manager in one of our shops or restaurants you will be leading one of the most important teams in our business. You will be the welcoming smile, happy face and friendly voice of our business for our customers. You will have great opportunities for career progression not readily available elsewhere, and you will receive valuable training and professional development. Most importantly though … you will be helping to save the future of fish and chips.
