A charmingly casual yet sophisticated restaurant, Petersham Nurseries Café is set within a glasshouse brimming with fragrant bougainvillea and jasmine, draped with Indian blinds and decorated with antique furniture, mirrors and paintings. An oasis that never fails to captivate and enchant. Respecting the Slow Food philosophy, the restaurant serves seasonal, Italian inspired food, with a handful of candlelit supper clubs throughout the year.

The kitchen is recruiting and looking to hear from Commis Chefs to join the Richmond team.

Bringing a passion for produce led cooking in a beautiful unique setting - you will be a vital part of the team performing a variety of tasks of food preparation and organisation, which support the kitchen and allow you to develop your skills as a chef.

The role will include but not be limited to:

Gaining a understanding Petersham Nurseries philosophy by learning and demonstrating thorough knowledge of food and ingredients.

Learn set recipes and ensure all menu items are made to specification meeting a consistent high standard of quality and presentation.

Effectively communicate with other members of the kitchen staff taking on board regular feedback and instruction.

Develop your culinary skills through growing your knowledge of food and ingredients.

Be part of and engender a kitchen environment that is creative, nurturing and positive, that promotes learning and a passion for food and produce.

Ensure that Health & Safety and Food Safety standards are adhered to and recommendations from Food Safety Audits carried out.

Assist with ensuring all administration for the kitchen is completed according to all deadlines such as food hygiene records, stocktakes, wastage sheets and cleanliness records.

To contribute and work effectively as part of a team.
