Deputy General Manager- Newbury Interim position

bstFitness, Newbury have an exciting opportunity for a Deputy General Manager to join the team on an interim basis initially for a 3 month contract but with the potential for extension or for it to be made permanent depending on circumstances. The role is integral to the success of the Club and will include whole-site responsibility when acting as a key-holder. You will have specific responsibilities for managing, leading and developing the Swim School team at bstFitness in Newbury so a background in Swim School Management would be beneficial.

You will have experience in line managing a team in a customer focused Leisure role or have operational management experience in Leisure, Health and Fitness, Hospitality or similar customer facing environments and the following:

• Experience in sales and operations environment
• Daily facility management experience on all areas of Club operations
• Experience managing a Team- including recruitment, performance management, motivation and training
• Building Operations (wet and dry)
• Relevant Health and Safety qualification (or ability to gain)
• REPS 2 qualified (or ability to gain)
• First Aid at Work (or ability to gain)
• Emergency Response Certificate or equivalent (or ability to gain)
• Pool Plant Operators training (or ability to gain)
• A relevant Swimming Teacher qualification would be beneficial

You will be working 39 hours per week with a varying shift pattern of 5 on and 2 off which will include weekday and weekend working. This role is a temporary role to cover for absence in the team and we would be looking for the suitable candidate to start ASAP.

BST (Basingstoke Sports Trust) is a charitable leisure Trust based at Festival Place in Basingstoke, Hampshire.  A truly independent Trust created in 1965, we manage two leisure facilities - Basingstoke Sports Centre and bstFitness, which is located on Park Way in the town of Newbury.
