GLL is looking for a General Manager to lead the team at the brand new York Leisure Centre and Stadium in York, Yorkshire. York Leisure Centre is part of the exciting new York Stadium development, opening in Summer 2019. The Stadium complex is the culmination of a £42m investment and will have a capacity of over 8,000 in the main Stadium plus a 13-sceen cinema, an NHS outpatient clinic plus restaurants, a library and a bowling alley. The complex will be a one-stop shop for our customers, be it for health or leisure.

We're looking for a General Manager, with the confidence and ambition to mobilise what is proving to be one of GLL's largest leisure centres, if not THE largest. The new York Stadium will be one of the highest profile venues to open in the North and will need an experienced Manager to not only manage the mobilisation, but who can be a figurehead for the client and public too. This role has a focus on shaping a clear strategic framework to deliver our operational and financial targets; this being even more key with York being the largest single investment into a leisure centre that GLL has ever made - all whilst forging even stronger links with our business and community partners. It's a role that offers huge variety, with the GM having responsibility for the Stadium, outdoor pitches, play areas, health and fitness and pools. So, as well as enjoying a hands-on management role, some of your time will be desk-based, as you ensure compliance and support the administration involved in running a busy professional stadium and leisure centre.

Naturally, you'll need to adhere to GLL's stringent safety policies and procedures - but ultimately, you're given the freedom, support and training to run your centre as your own and drive innovation as you see fit, never forgetting our community objectives. You'll thrive on the autonomy to manage your own time too, all with the support of our wider head office function.

Continuing your strong track record of achieving big business objectives, product growth and excellent customer service, you'll be a real people-person with the gravitas and experience to lead this large venue. Expertly handling a budget, your current knowledge of the leisure, sport, fitness and lifestyle worlds will be just as key - as are the communication skills needed to develop relationships with our senior management teams. You will be required to hold NPLQ, PPO (desirable), Pool Management Qualification.
