Fitness Manager - Covent Garden, London

Full time, 40 hours per week

£22,000 - £24,000 per annum

Jubilee Hall Trust is an independent sports trust in central London that operates four fitness, health and sports centres and also delivers community programmes to build healthier communities.

Key Accountabilities

Flexibility is required to meet the needs of our business. Variable shifts to include evenings and weekends are the norm.

  • Supervise the Fitness staff
  • Provide a welcoming and efficient environment for all user contacts, bookings, requests and enquiries
  • Ensure all the facilities are available during working hours and secured at the end of each working day
  • Collect and report on user feedback and provide information on centre usage to the Management Team
  • Provide a clean and safe environment for all users
  • Be responsible for financial matters and to ensure that all security procedures are complied with
  • Be responsible for the implementation of the Centre’s Health and Safety Policy
  • Assist the Club Manager in leading and developing the Gym
  • Support all staff in contributing to a positive working environment

Person Specification

Skills: Essential

  • Good knowledge of the Health and Fitness Industry
  • Open to new ideas and self development
  • Excellent customer services skills
  • Ability to handle customer complaints with tact
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels including written and oral
  • Good word and excel skills and internet competent
  • Good organisational skills
  • Able to make and stick to decisions under pressure
  • Able to manage and develop people
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team

Skills: Desirable

  • Understanding of budgeting and accounting for a profit centre
  • Understanding of specific issues of working in the voluntary sector
  • Understanding of Equal Opportunities issues and policies
  • Knowledge of current health and safety issues
  • Sound problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of computerised management system – preferably Legend

Experience: Essential:

  • Constant high level of work conducted within in Health and Fitness Industry
  • Experience of managing multi-use facilities
  • Experience of developing fitness  programmes

Experience: Desirable:

  • Experience of managing people in an Equal Opportunities environment
  • Experience in the voluntary sector

Qualifications: Essential:

  • Industry related  and recognised qualifications
  • REPs Level 2 or equivalent
  • Current 1st Aid Training
  • Current Health and Safety Training

Qualifications: Desirable:

  • GP Referral qualified
  • Education to A level or NVQ level 3
  • Management Training
