Looking to run a pub?
Located on a bust high street in a small ex pit mining town on the outskirts of Durham City. The site is well renowned for a good choice of products and benefits from team support. It is very popular with horse racing fans as it has several TVs covering all live horse racing channels. It backs onto the local Morrisons and customers use this for short term car parking. Its part of the local circuit on a weekend and hosts a popular quiz night midweek. The pub serves John Smiths at a discounted price which is popular with the local daytime customers.
Business facilitiesThe pub has a traditional feel to it, with a small bar to the left side, featuring a pool table and darts board, and a lounge area to the right side with fixed seating. This space also has a small DJ area, which is used for weekend entertainment. Free WiFi is provided. Outside, the pub has a very small yard, known as 'the world's smallest beer garden'. It backs on to the local Morrisons superstore and customers use this for short-term car parking.
AccommodationThe domestic accommodation consists of three bedrooms, a kitchen and a lounge. Punch will ensure that this accommodation is in good order.
RefurbishmentThe Kings Head has been recently refurbished but we're planning modest investment to upgrade the toilet facilities.
The local areaThe former pit mining town of Bishop Auckland is about 10 minutes' drive from Durham city centre and a similar distance from the picturesque North Pennines, which is popular with tourists, walkers and cyclists. The pub sits in a busy high street location, with the train station, hospital, superstores and plenty of residential properties all within easy walking distance.
This pub may suitIdeal for someone with local knowledge and a good ‘front of house’ personality. An interest in horse racing would be beneficial and cask ale experience is required here.
