Commercial Finance Analyst – Online Grocery

About the role:
In Online Grocery (OG) Finance we provide commercial business partnering support to the e-commerce grocery business. OG allows the Asda customer to complete shopping missions from the comfort of their own home with friendly deliveries or convenient collection. It is one of the fastest growing parts of the Asda business, making it an exciting business area to partner.
E-commerce is fast paced and evolving quickly so the Finance team needs a mindset of agile thinking and making the right recommendations at speed. The role offers the opportunity to shape the current operation, drive efficiencies and improve process, work cross-functionally across a number of ASDA teams and develop strong business partnering skills.

The Ins and Outs:
  • Ownership of Total Company OG P&L and Home Shopping Centre P&Ls; working with the control and accounting teams across month end, reviewing performance against expectation, understanding variances and providing weekly/daily comms to relevant teams to drive delivery of the P&L
  • Building an expectation of performance by working with key stakeholders/business partners
  • Opportunity to business partner areas of the Grocery E-commerce team such as Marketing, Customer Experience, Development and Fleet to support delivery of the 3 year and annual plan, build business cases and support implementation of new initiatives
  • Seek out and present opportunities to the e-commerce leadership team to drive business performance
  • Key contact for the delivery of robust data and MI to support decision making and performance; this involves identifying issues and working across a number of ASDA teams to understand the impacts and support resolution
  • Attend on-site P&L reviews at the Home Shopping Centres and work with the OG HSC Finance Manager to provide additional insight and opportunities to drive performance
  • What you’ll need:
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
  • Competent excel / modelling skills and ideally you will have knowledge of ASDA’s systems (Essbase, SAP)
  • Strong team player and relationship building skills
  • Ability to influence diverse and challenging stakeholders
  • Innovative – ability to assess, redesign and implement improved processes and ways of working to drive efficiencies
  • Proactive and self-motivated
  • Ability to work at pace
