Job Summary – Tutor/Assessor/IQA

About the role

We are looking for knowledgeable and enthusiastic Tutors, Assessors, & IVs to deliver our extensive range of fitness courses. Candidates will have previous experience of working within Health and Fitness in order to combine your practical experience with the theory element of our courses. You must display an in-depth understanding of anatomy and physiology and client behaviour change. In addition to your tutor/assessor/IQA certificate, you must hold a certificate in the qualification you are applying to teach/assess. You will have excellent communication skills and be committed to improving the learner experience. This post is open to both experienced and newly qualified tutors/assessors.

We need assessors/tutors/IVs who are qualified in one or more of the following:

  • Levels 1/3 Sports Taping
  • Level 1 Award Coaching Weightlifting
  • Level 2 Award in Olympic Weightlifting
  • Level 2 Kettlebells
  • Level 2 Suspended Movement Training
  • Level 2 Exercise to Music
  • Level 2 Gym Instructor
  • Level 2 Indoor Cycling
  • Level 2 Circuit Training
  • Levels 2/3/4 Complimentary Therapy
  • Level 3 Personal Trainer
  • Level 3 Exercise Referral
  • Level 3 Ante & Post Natal Exercise
  • Level 3 Yoga
  • Level 3 Pilates
  • Level 3 BTEC Sport & Exercise Science
  • Level 3/4/5 Sports Massage Therapy
  • Level 3/4 Strength & Conditioning
  • Level 4 Lower Back Pain
  • Level 4 Weight Management for Obesity & Diabetes
  • Level 4 Cancer Rehab (or equivalent)

On addition to our fitness department, our business school needs qualified professionals to deliver on:

  • Level 3 Business Admin
  • Level 5 Leadership & Management

Hours of work are mainly weekends during the day, but we also offer occasional fast-track courses that fall mid-week. You may be required to mark learner records in the evenings should marking not have been completed during the day. Our courses run across the UK, but this particular vacancy is based in South Yorkshire.

You will work closely with our current team of tutors, assessors and internal verifiers in the Education department, but are expected to be an active member of the wider Fuel Fitness team across all departments. As such, you are expected to attend team meetings/events, for which you will be paid, but they will most likely fall on different days to your contracted tutor/assessor work, so a certain degree of flexibility and adaptability is required.

Job description

  • Teach theory and practical sessions to learners
  • Attend team meetings
  • Be willing to attend/present at an agreed amount of events throughout the year either at expos or on-site, which may include travel/overnight stays to various UK cities
  • Add to our current resources and lesson plans where appropriate to continually improve our service to learners in order to address a range of learning styles and abilities
  • To contribute to our high learner pass rate by actively encouraging each leaner as an individual as well as catering to the needs of the group as a whole
  • Manage/mark student portfolios and assess their work adhering to standardisation policies
  • Keep your line manager and education colleagues up to date regarding student progress and behaviour
  • Deliver pastoral support to students, act as a positive and knowledgeable role model and build mutually beneficial working relationships with both colleagues and learners
  • Undertake relevant training as required by the role and be committed to CPD
  • Must be able to work early mornings, evenings and weekends.
  • Once you commit to teaching/assessing a particular course you must work the whole course and be available for all the required dates

Required Education, Skills and Qualifications

Essential:

  • A discipline specific qualification at/above the level being taught, along with suitable industry experience
  • Level 3 Teaching Qualification e.g. PTLLS, AET

and/or

  • Assessor qualification e.g. A1, Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement

and/or

  • IQA/IV qualification
