The Met Hotel is a stunning 4 Star, Grade two listed Hotel set in the City Centre of Leeds, unrivalled among Hotels in Leeds for its style, character and location. With 120 bedrooms, 18 function rooms with a capacity for 250 delegate’s and our unique Tempus Restaurant, this vibrant and busy Hotel provides excellent development opportunities for the right candidate.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a People Development Officer to join us as we embark on an exciting journey in joining the Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) portfolio. Over the next two years, the Hotel will undergo significant refurbishment and investment which will lead us into the Hotel Indigo brand for 2020.

Your day to day

As People Development Officer, you will support the People Development Manager in providing a generalist management to all people practices at the Hotel throughout the full employee life cycle.

You'll be able to communicate effectively at all levels and ensure HR business requirements are consistently achieved and HR strategies are implemented successfully. The PD Officer will support in all HR related matters, deliver training sessions including induction and statutory training and manage engagement activities across the Hotel.

The role requires the ability to influence employee engagement, to motivate our teams to deliver high levels of guest service whilst promoting our company's purpose values and behaviours and support in identifying and developing our existing talent.

What we need from you

As People Development Officer, you will

  • Have experience of working in a HR environment
  • Be confident in handling employee relations issues and coaching managers
  • Have an eye for detail and meticulous in the execution of HR processes
  • Be an effective communicator and an engaging facilitator
  • Have a passion for training and developing people
  • Be a team player, making a positive contribution to the wider HR function and Hotel
  • Have strong time management skills and ability to prioritise work to meet deadlines
  • Drive a high performance culture and demonstrate ambition to succeed
  • Have confidence in handling sensitive situations and challenge when necessary
