Accounts Assistant – Record To Report (R2R)

Our Record to Report (R2R) team is responsible for delivering key accounting processes and controls to support ASDA’s monthly financial statement preparation, in an accurate and timely manner.

Reporting to the R2R Finance Manager, your purpose will be to prepare and record accurate and timely financial information for reporting internally and externally, in line with group accounting policies and procedures


What you’ll be responsible for:

Completing monthly processes/ transactions within your area of responsibility accurately, completely and on time

Identifying any anomalies or omissions that may require accounting manual adjustments on review

Maintaining adherence to group accounting policies, highlighting to the R2R Accountant where there may be discrepancies and actioning remedy plans to resolve any issues

Completing balance sheet reconciliations, highlighting control risks to the R2R Accountant and actioning remedy plans to resolve any issues

Providing information for use by Controllership and Internal/External Audit to adhere to financial compliance requirements

Review and approve supplier income recognition requests in line with group accounting policies and procedures

Responding to queries on work/area of responsibilities in a timely manner to support R2R management team

Essential:

Strong attention to detail in all work

Ability to work to deadlines

Good analytical skills

Intermediate user of MS Excel - vlookups, pivot tables, sumifs

Working in a team and collaboratively

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Ability to build rapport with stakeholders and teammates

Ability to problem solve

Desirable:

Finance / MI / Record to Report industry experience

AAT/CIMA experience
