Category Technologist – Food - Food Technologist – Chilled/ Ambient

Based at Asda House in Leeds

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Category Technologist to join our team. The purpose of the job is to support Asda becoming Britain’s most trusted retailer. This will be achieved by supporting our business partners to deliver due diligence and brand requirements in our POD areas and within our teams. As an experienced Quality Manager or Retail Technologist, you will have experience of working with teams within manufacturing environments, and or retail, with the ability to influence and support change, compliance and quality deliverables.

What you’ll be responsible for:
Promotes a Culture of Customer & brand integrity focus -
Supporting the Management of the supplier quality and technical program across ASDA supply base
Organizing and attending internal and external supplier review meetings
Support the successful delivery of the Technical review process, including the completion of unannounced visits to assess improvement sustainability
Support the supplier management of suppliers within your accountable areas using key metrics such as customer complaints, serious incidents, testing exceptions, withdrawals and recalls, EHO and TSI referrals, scorecard metrics and responsible sourcing to minimize the risk of regulatory challenge or adverse brand damage
Supporting the delivery supplier communications

Business Strategy support -
Be the category technical support for technical and quality
Ensure all visits and audits are completed and communicated to category as required after following a consistent, robust and documented risk assessment
Responsible for ensuring all documents for due diligence are correctly completed and stored on HIVE.
Lead and deliver technical strategies in line with your business plan
Work as an enabler to your business partners in trading and product development, adding value to category to through knowledge of your supply base

Protect and enhance the brand -
Ensure all specifications in the HIVE have a Risk Assessment
Maintain HIVE active supplier visibility
Use data insight to identify trends and take appropriate action to address opportunities in your categories.
Support the development, engagement and delivery of policies or processes relevant to your category or total own brand
Support your Category Technical manager with Horizon scanning, investigating anomalies, and supporting development of policy and processes to mitigate private brand exposure to risk


About you:

As an experienced Technologist or Quality Manager you will have experience of working within complex food categories within either retail, FMCG or Manufacturing environment
Degree or equivalent in relevant product or scientific area
A background gained within either a similar technical role, or industry experience in multiple disciplines
Commercial and customer awareness and a desire to develop this area
Ability to prioritise and flex to business needs
Track record making a difference with product quality, safety or within commercial projects
Build positive and strong relationships with key suppliers
