Assistant Brand Manager – Craft Beer

An exciting development opportunity has arisen within the Marston’s Beer Company ‘World Beers and Ciders’ team for an Assistant Brand Manager to drive the development and activation of a craft portfolio including brands such as Shipyard, one of the fastest growing brands in the UK and Founders the fastest growing craft brand in the US. This is a great development opportunity for anyone looking to build a career in Marketing.

You’ll be an ambassador for great brands in the fastest growing category in the market, an area of much interest for customers and consumers alike. You will be involved in a wide range of marketing activities including, customer initiatives, promotions, PR, digital, event management and brand planning. The role will require some travel to support this.

Role responsibilities:

  • Drive the execution of the brand plan and premium positioning strategies through the day-to-day management of brands and the relationship with the brand owner.
  • Work closely with sales teams to develop customer marketing plans in line with brand strategy and premium positioning.
  • Working closely with the MBC trade marketing team to ensure that our sales teams have all the tools they require to keep our brands at the forefront of their thinking
  • Support the Brand Managers through managing elements of the marketing budget and ensure that all activities are achieved to budget and to time.
  • Briefing and working alongside external agencies to deliver best in class execution.
  • Responsible for developing brand content and executing elements of the brand plan with agencies with the brand owner sign off.
  •   The ideal candidate:

  • Basic understanding of the beer market.
  • Able to demonstrate high levels of energy and passion for building the brands.
  • Great communication and networking skills, with confidence in dealing with senior stakeholders including building and maintaining relationships with brand owners from other countries.
  • Strong project and time management skills, with good attention to detail.
  • Flexible style and approach to tasks which will vary from strategic thinking and implementation to administration and event coordination.
  • A confident, outgoing and sociable team player who will fit with the culture of our business.
  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint with the ability to track and analyse data and create engaging and compelling presentations
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent.
  • A full UK driver’s license and a willingness to travel when required.
  • This vacancy is open to internal and external candidates. All internal candidates should have agreed their application with their line manager. The role will be based in Wolverhampton but will involve some regular travel to the other locations and the wider trade.
