Group Training Manager - BGL, Burhill Golf Club

REPORTING TO: Guy Riggott and Andy Scholey, Operations Directors

SUPPORT: Heather Pickerill, Group HR Manager

PACKAGE: Up to £40k + 5% pension + 25 days holiday + health care + meals on duty

The Company:

We operate a broad mix of leisure and hospitality businesses stretching from Newcastle to Bournemouth, from standalone golf clubs to health clubs to a growing portfolio of city centre adventure golf sites.  We are expanding rapidly and by the end of 2020 will have over 25 sites and as many as 1,000 employees.  This growth has created the need for a Group Training Manager.

The candidate:

The successful candidate will have a background in training relevant to the service sector. They must be able to demonstrate successful experience in human resources, recruitment processes and facilitating training. The individual will have impeccable organisational skills and be able to work for much of the time under their own direction. They must also demonstrate fluency in managing differing IT platforms. Professional qualifications in training and development will be a distinct advantage.

Objective of the role:

Initially, the purpose of the role is to spear head the design, development and management of two online platforms, namely:

  1. Online inductions across all levels of the business, much of which will require the design and building of bespoke modules and video content.
  2. Online staff reviews, objective setting and personal development plans.

The ambition is to combine / synchronise all personnel data in order recruitment, payroll, induction and reviews are held together. By implementing the above platforms, the strategic objective is to improve the measurement score of staff engagement across the business, specifically the measurement of ‘growth’.

Once the above platforms have been successfully implemented, we envisage the role and scope of the position will expand to include the facilitation of relevant needs-based training and developing recruitment initiatives across the business. The breadth of the role will only be tempered in time by the individual’s desire to grow and succeed.
