Caffè Terra was born from a family business that has been roasting coffee in Italy since 1921. After nearly a century in the game, Caffè Terra, with your help, will be bringing its bold blends and tantalizing food to the streets of London. Our first store will be opening in Rathbone Square in January 2019. This is a very exciting time in the history of the Caffè Terra brand and we would be thrilled to have you on board as part of our diverse work family as our first ever Store Manager!

Join us in time for our launch and have the benefit of being trained directly by our team coming in from Italy! You will be able to access to our endless knowledge about our world-class coffee and our rich international history, and how we are part of the next wave of the coffee generation. You will become a master at grinding, pressing and pulling the perfect espresso and impressing all our discerning coffee connoisseurs. You will learn how our fresh and natural food menu perfectly complements our earthy undertones. Your skills set will become wider as you develop into your role. You

As a Store Manager, you will manage the first Caffè Terra store in London, in the brand new and shiny Rathbone Square! You will manage the team to create a warm and welcoming work family atmosphere that is a Caffè Terra value, whilst being part of an efficient and effective team that delivers on commercial expectations.

You will obsess over details to please every individual in our customer base, including all our neighbours from the millennials to the millionaires, other retail teams and office workers, to tourists, shoppers and friendly commuters. You will bring a keen awareness of health and safety, food hygiene and excellent customer service to the store.

The ideal candidate for this role will be self-motivated, have the ability to make decisions in a time pressured environment and is results oriented. Ideally you will have prior experience in a food/coffee retail environment having managed a team of at least 10-12 team members, including food production. Your shifts will vary each week between 6am-8pm including weekends, so it is really important you are fully flexible and able to commute to Central London (see the easiest routes below).

Alongside a passion for coffee, you will have:

  • prior experience as a store manager or a budding supervisor in a food/coffee retail environment
  • the ambition to succeed

  • good data interpretation and data manipulation skills
  • excellent English (written and oral) skills, other languages and are a bonus

Your Role

As our first ever Store Manager your role will be to:

  • build team spirit and create a sense of belonging to a fantastic work family team
  • develop, plan and execute sale and profit plans and show initiative to launch the store and increase the profitability of the store by growing sales and controlling costs
  • maintain and utilize daily, weekly, quarterly and annual financial reporting tools
  • ensure proper team member coverage, scheduling according to the needs of business while maintaining target labour costs
  • identify staffing, recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training needs of qualified candidates
  • facilitate on-going training and development of current staff to deliver exceptional customer service
  • consistently monitor, coach and encourage your team to meet Caffè Terra’s service standards
  • maintain a clean well-merchandised store, following visual presentation plans and standards
  • promote and practice safe work habits, identifying and resolving potential safety hazards, operational inconsistencies and any team member or customer incidents
  • able to perform all point of sale duties, front and back of house functions including food production, opening and closing procedures, coordinating with CT HQ as necessary
  • be part of Caffè Terra’s corporate social responsibility initiatives
  • assist with brand management and marketing (online and offline) in conjunction with our PR team
  • review app utilisation
  • assist the finance and accounts team, working with them to develop KPIs and operational targets
  • lead the smooth role out of all initiatives
  • keep up-to-date with industry trends and developments, including new technology and new product mixes

Hours, Salary, Benefits, Conditions

  • £21,000 to £27,000 p.a., dependent on prior experience
  • full time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Sunday, 6am to 8pm, with some flexibility required
