Role Profile

ZSL is looking to recruit a Scientific Events Co-ordinator to help organise, develop and promote ZSL’s annual programme of Science and Conservation Events, Symposia, the Stamford Raffles Lecture and awards ceremony. The successful candidate will oversee the administration for ZSL’s annual programme of Science and Conservation Awards.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver an annual programme of Science and Conservation Events, including international symposia, a free public-lecture series, the Stamford Raffles lecture and awards ceremony.
  • Design, publish and distribute all promotional materials for ZSL Science and Conservation Events.
  • Produce ZSL’s WildScience Podcast including coordinating interviews with speakers at events and editing audio files.
  • Design and implement an effective evaluation and monitoring process for events.
  • Oversee administrative process for ZSL’s annual programme of awards, including Call for Nominations, review of candidates, collation of papers for Awards Committee meetings and organising the ceremony.

Person Specification

  • Proven track record of organising high-level, bespoke events in an academic environment.
  • Experience of managing a high-level administrative workload.
  • Good knowledge of research and priorities in conservation science.
  • Knowledge of public-engagement and science-communication platforms.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to liaise with a broad spectrum of internal and external stakeholders and science professionals.

Please note that there will be a requirement to work some evenings to manage ZSL Science and Conservation Events.
