Camden Council and GLL have a joint vision to “inspire Camden residents to lead active and healthy lives”. Together, we aim to deliver this through accessible facilities, excellent customer care and affordable memberships.

The Community Sports Officer role is an important one, as you'll be representing GLL in the community within the London Borough of Camden. We're investing in our services and communities and need a passionate Community Sports Officer to help us develop community partnerships and increase both awareness and participation in sport and physical activity.

This role will draw upon your passion for sport and physical activity as well as your people skills. The main objective of the role is to interact and engage with the community to encourage and increase participation in sport and physical activity within Camden.

We already work with a range of community organisations, your job will be to build on existing relationships and develop new ones across the borough. You'll work with a range of people including children and young people, women and girls, disabled people and older people from a diverse range of backgrounds and cultures. You'll work closely with Camden's leisure centre General Managers, the Camden Partnership Manager, the Community Sports Manager, and our local partners to assess gaps in our provision. Additionally, you'll work closely with London Borough of Camden, delivering the Camden Active Partnerships project, which emphasises and promotes working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders. You'll also be expected to measure and optimise your methods and successes.

Ideally, you'll have a degree in sports development or a sport-related subject and be able to demonstrate your experience of the following; sports development projects, writing about and applying for funding, working with local authorities sports clubs and/or community organisations. Although working as part of a wider team, you'll be expected to work independently and manage your own workload. You'll be comfortable dealing with stakeholders at all levels and adept at giving presentations. A creative thinker, you'll thrive on devising new initiatives to work with the community to foster their participation in sport and exercise.
