Job description

MGB Fitness Training Ltd is an established and growing personal training business based in Swaythling, Southampton. 

We are looking for a high quality personal trainer with excellent customer service to join our team.  Applicants should be professional, reliable, enthusiastic and have a desire to meet their potential.  We aim to combine our energy with your own, to not only grow our expanding and dynamic company, but to provide a rewarding and fulfilling career.

Previous experience working as a personal trainer is desirable but not a necessity, though all applicants must have completed their level 3 personal training award.  The right attitude will be the most important aspect of the successful candidate.  We seek applicants who want to work as part of a close-knit team, supporting one another and creating a friendly, positive and welcoming environment for our clients.  Employment at MGB Fitness offers individuals who want to develop themselves, and the business, fantastic long term potential in a positive and fun working environment.

Responsibilities

The job role will include but is not limited to:

  • Development and delivery of high quality training sessions
  • Development and delivery of high quality customer service
  • Critiquing and advising upon nutritional plans
  • Responding to correspondence
  • Processing client payments and keeping accurate records
  • Business development via social media, newsletters, blogs etc.
  • Delivering and following up on client consultations
  • Working to targets and increasing turnover
  • Maintenance and upkeep of the studio and equipment
  • General administration
  • Retailing of products
  • Other assistive duties in accordance with the needs of the business
  • Continued development of skills and knowledge

 

Skills and competencies

Essential:

  • Level 3 Personal Trainer
  • GCSE Maths and English language level C or above
  • Computer literate (including Microsoft Excel and Word)
  • Experience using the internet, emails and social media
  • Excellent customer service
  • Responsible and reliable
  • Enthusiastic, proactive and professional

Desirable:

  • Experience as a personal trainer
  • Background in sales
  • Experience running client base
  • Flexibility with working hours where necessary

 

Relationships

Line manager to this role with be the Personnel Manager, who in turn works with Business Development Manager, both of whom feed up to Managing Director.

It is important to remain respectful and courteous to all professionals and clients using the Studio at all times.  Applicants must be willing to work as part of a team, and support co-workers to the benefit of that team and the company as a whole.

Salary 1: Basic Salary

Varied rates of pay dependent on fixed / guaranteed hours Vs flexible hours.

Shift hours will be regular with guaranteed pay and paid annual leave.

1-2-1 sessions are agreed between client and trainer with an annual leave supplement and 10% commission for sales paid in addition to basic hourly rate.

2: Scheduled Hours

Minimum of 12 hours per week fixed / guaranteed shift-based work plus flexible hours for 1-2-1 sessions arranged between the trainer and their clients.

Shift hours will be negotiated and agreed prior to job offer.

This shift pattern may be subject to change in conjunction with the needs of the business.

3: Holiday pay

Based upon fixed hours only, pro-rated amount based upon a 40 hour week = 28 x 8hours paid leave (including studio closures and Bank Holidays).

4: Over time

From time to time, you may be asked to cover shifts left vacant by staff illness or annual leave.  Flexibility and enthusiasm to help in such situations is an important element of this role.
