The Role:

The HR Manager has overall responsibility for the HR operation at The Lensbury. S/he will be a proactive business partner of the operating departments and other central service departments. Working alongside the Head of HR/HSSE (Health, Safety, Security and Environment), the HR Manager will have both a strategic and operational role in meeting business objectives.

The ideal candidate will have excellent knowledge of employment legislation and current HR best practice. S/he will have professional communication skills, emotional intelligence and understand the commercial impact of HR’s contribution to the business.

The ideal candidate must develop key relationships throughout the business in order to provide guidance to the managers and staff supporting key business objectives.


The HR Manager will report to the Head of HR/HSSE, having line responsibility for the HR team which includes the payroll function through the ADP system.

Key Outcomes Include:

  • Manage, coach and develop the HR team to provide professional HR services
  • Plan, implement and review effective HR policies to meet the Company’s strategic and operating objectives
  • Ensure compliance with statutory / regulatory legislation
  • Recommend and implement policies and procedures in accordance with established best practice
  • Provide advice and guidance to coach managers on all HR practices
  • Analyse, review and monitor training needs and propose and implement the annual training plan
  • Manage The Lensbury’s staff compensation and benefit programmes
  • Deliver HR statutory, KPI and other analysis reporting

The Candidate:

  • Graduate (min 2.1) or equivalent
  • Qualified and a current member of CIPD
  • Excellent knowledge of UK employment legislation and established HR best practice
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as HR Manager in a related role (preferably gained within the leisure industry/hospitality sector)
  • Excellent diplomatic and negotiation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate, motivate and develop all levels of staff
  • Outstanding organisational skills (with the ability to handle multiple responsibilities and deadlines)
  • The ability to work on own initiative
  • Numerical and budgeting skills
  • ICT skills and knowledge of HR systems
  • Tact and the ability to deal with difficult/personal situations
  • The ability to work under pressure

Terms & Conditions:

Full time role, with an excellent salary package, including performance related bonus, 20 days holiday plus statutory bank holidays, use of the Lensbury’s leisure facilities and company pension scheme and medical insurance on service criteria.
