A rare opportunity to manage an iconic village pub has arisen! We are seeking an experienced and talented manager, or management couple, capable of building on the existing sales by developing a great team to deliver excellent standards of food, service and hospitality.

The Pub

Built as a coach house to serve Sparsholt Manor opposite, the Plough is just a few miles from historic Winchester and has been a popular destination for more than 150 years.

It is situated on Woodman Lane just off the main B3049 which runs between Winchester and Stockbridge with easy access to the A34 and M3.

This is a fine example of what a high quality village pub should be all about, with a fresh food menu and good choice of real ales on the bar, roaring fires in the winter and plenty of outside seating for those hot summer nights.

The Team

There is an existing team in place, but this is a challenging location to attract and retain personnel so evidence of team building and motivating a team to produce excellent results is essential.

The Task

We are seeking hands on managers with the ability to work in all aspects of the business, specifically having the skills required to work the busy kitchen when necessary as well as controlling all aspects of the front of house business, managing the profit and loss account and building sales by being proactive in the modern marketplace.

Also key is the ability to recruit, train and motivate outstanding, committed people to help drive the business forward, so a proven track record in training and development is essential to this role.

Required Skills

• Experienced fresh food operator
• High level of standards and excellent customer service
• Strong leadership & people development skills
• Good knowledge of promotion & marketing including the use of social media
• Understanding of P&L & controlling costs
• Cellar management and a knowledge of real ales
• Understanding of ordering and stock control
• Personal Licence holder
