Walk the length of George Street from our sister property and you’ll come to The Principal Edinburgh Charlotte Square. The hotel is one of several smart addresses on a UNESCO World Heritage site comprising seven, inter-connecting townhouses, as well as a purpose-built block of bedrooms. The hotel has recently been refurbished from top to toe, to designs by the award-winning team at Goddard Littlefair. In addition to 199 guest rooms and suites, the hotel has refurbished dining and event space; The SPA at Principal, utilising both Oskia and Ishga brands; The Garden, a glazed courtyard serving a light menu of all-day food, afternoon tea and evening cocktails; and Baba, a Levantine-influenced restaurant.

Your day to day

Day-to-Day • You are responsible for signing in at the beginning and ending of your shift. • You are responsible for the safe opening and closing of the facility and completing opening, closing and daily check sheets. • You are fully accountable for cash handling and ensuring that daily takings are correct and any discrepancies are made aware to the duty manager. • When on shift you are accountable for completing pool tests every 2 hours and overseeing pool plant operations. • To cover reception as and when required. • To establish exercise programs for guests and members taking into account their needs and goals monitoring their progress on a regular basis. • To maintain a pro-active presence in the fitness areas, offering help, advice, building rapport and giving support to all users. • Day to day responsibility for equipment, cleanliness, hygiene and safety of the premises. • To ensure that your designated uniform is worn, well pressed and in a good state of repair at all times. • Must attend all training courses and meetings as deemed necessary, and must adhere to training and meetings set down by the Leisure and Spa Manager. • To maintain a high standard of appearance and personal hygiene as laid down by company policy. • To acknowledge and be courteous to guests and other members of staff at all times. • Conduct fitness assessments, inductions and programme follow ups. • Instruct fitness classes and any other activities as offered by the Leisure Club. • Ensure fitness suite, studio, changing areas, poolside, heat experiences and relaxation rooms are tidy, clean and stocked with linen at all times. • Ensure that daily equipment checks are completed. • Ensure 30 min walk rounds checks of fitness suite, studio, changing areas, and poolside along with heat experiences are completed and signed off. • Supervise the fitness suite, studio and swimming pool as required. • To always be punctual and prepared in advance of fitness assessments, inductions and classes. • Complete a daily towel run. • Complete daily cleaning tasks. • Full understanding of spa menu, promotions and operations. • Will perform as a professional with a friendly business attitude and conduct all duties and responsibilities as required by the position or assigned by the Leisure and Spa Manager or Leisure Supervisor • To perform any other duties deemed reasonable by management. • To assist in membership sales, outreach activities, promotions, retention and tours. • To assist in the upselling of leisure and spa retail products. • To ensure that brand promises and MVV are adhered to.
