About Us

The Lensbury, situated by Teddington Lock, is a four star Hotel and Conference Centre, hosting conferences and special events, including weddings and private parties. The Lensbury is also a well-regarded premium leisure club with a swimming pool and fantastic gym and studio classes.

The Role

• Meet all Health and Safety regulations, guidelines and policy, ensuring that emergency and contingency procedures are followed and all staff are knowledgeable in these procedures.
• Ensure all staff comply with COSHH regulations, manual handling and any other statutory regulations.
•  Assist with the supervision of all gym staff ensuring adequate training and full documentation held.
• Provide supervision and adequate staffing of the fitness facilities, in liaison with the Fitness and Studio Manager, and ensure the gym is never left unattended.
• Strictly enforce all current rules and regulations appertaining to the use of the fitness facilities by both members and guests.
• Ensure the correct use and maintenance of all machinery and equipment, and liaise with the management regarding the ordering of additional equipment or repair work.

• Undertake all cleaning duties as required and ensure high standards are maintained by all staff and at all times.
• Ensure uniform and appropriate safety clothing and footwear is worn by all staff members when handling chemicals and other such materials.
• Conduct Induction sessions and fitness assessments when required and give appropriate additional information and guidance about safe use of equipment and fitness related issues.

• Carry out and promote personal training as and when required.
• Assist with the co-ordination of the Exercise Class programme and teach classes when cover issues occur (classes taught must be specific to qualifications).
• Handle all member complaints in order to maintain member satisfaction and retention.
• Assist the Fitness and Studio Manager with the day to day running of the Fitness facilities including risk assessments, SOP’s, Rota’s, Gym Challenges and Wellness Events.
• Keep up to date with current trends and qualifications in the health and fitness industry and ensured this knowledge is passed onto teams.
• In general do everything possible to ensure the optimum service to members and their guests whilst using the Fitness Suite  

  Candidate Specification

  Essential skills and experience:

• Minimum Fitness Instructor Level 2 or equivalent qualification essential
• Proven experience in Personal Training and Exercise Classes an advantage
• Experience of working in a Health and Fitness Facility
• Flexible and willing to assist in all areas of the complex, when required
• Excellent customer service skills with friendly, approachable personality and the ability to work under pressure

  Desirable skills and experience:

• Level 3 Personal Training Qualification or higher
• Relevant, up to date, Group Exercise Qualifications
• National Pool Lifeguard Qualification
• First Aid at Work Qualification
• Excellent telephone manner, great communication skills, organized, numerate and IT proficient

Terms & Conditions

• 39 hours per week on shift basis.
