Duty Officer (Dryside) | Shrewsbury Sports Village

Location: Sundorne Road, Sundorne, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, SY1 4RQ

Hours: 37 per week

Salary: £18,360.83-£19,987.64pa + Excellent Benefits

We are currently recruiting for a Duty Officer to work 37 hours per week, between the hours of 5.30am - 9.30pm, Monday - Friday, Saturday - Sunday, 7.30am to 8.00pm.

Shrewsbury Sports Village is part of Shropshire Community Leisure Trust. It has a range of facilities and offers a variety of activities for all ages. From fun family swim sessions and swimming lessons for children and adults.

The Duty Officer’s role is to manage the facility on a day to day basis ensuring all activities are delivered to a high standard with safety as the first priority. The role will involve a high level of customer interaction as well as the deployment and supervision of the operational team. In addition, the role will involve taking control and responding in the event of any emergency situation.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Be the Duty Officer within the rota system responsible for all aspects of the day to day to day smooth running of the centre including handling cash, staffing the reception, the health and safety of the public and staff.
  • Ensure a high standard of customer care and an effective response to enquiries at all times.
  • Ensure the security of the centre and high overall standards of cleanliness.
  • Ensure that all staff on duty are performing to the required standard.
  • Assist in ensuring that the required staffing levels are maintained at all times, including cover for sickness, annual leave etc.
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all visitors to the centre.
  • Carry out first aid procedures if necessary.
  • Prevent misuse or damage to the facilities and equipment.
  • Maintain and clean sports equipment regularly so it is both safe and pleasing to use.
  • Remove damaged equipment from use, labelling it clearly as unusable and notifying the centre management so as to enable its removal/repair or replacement as necessary.
  • Support and promote the aims and objectives of the centre and of the equal opportunity and health and safety policies of Shropshire Community Leisure Trust.
  • Act as a lifeguard when appropriate to do so and coach/teach activities commensurate with the level of qualification held.
  • Be prepared to work at other leisure centres from time to time.

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • First Aid at work certificate

Desirable

  • Previous experience in a similar position.
  • IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent
  • NVQ supervisory/ operational management
