Asda are recruiting for a BI & Analytics Development Manager to join Asda’s Technology.
The BI and Analytics Development Manager in the Application Development & Maintenance team is responsible for managing a core set of projects, as directed by the Senior Applications Development Manager, and resources to deliver the projects. The Data team has grown year on year and this is set to continue.

What you’ll doWork cross-functionally across Asda Technology to understand the pipeline of activity which my involve the Data & Analytics Team and provide high level estimates.Key point of contact and escalation for all DMA work.Day to day management of ASDA and third party Data & Analytics resources – ensure consistency in quality of work by regular code reviews.Day to day communication of all Data & Analytics activity – dealing with and managing any changes appropriately and keeping the relevant stakeholders informed.Responsible for planning and delivery of all Data & Analytics activity on projects – ensuring right people, right place, right time.Adaptable to working with both project and product way of working.Effectively manage the internal and external resources to plan and deliver the pipeline of work for the team.Engagement with QA – inform and ratify test plan, resolve defects etc.Proactively monitor and manage project risks, issues, dependencies and finances, escalating to the senior manager of application development and the project manager appropriately.Proactively drive process improvement across the Data & Analytics team to ensure we are working more effectively, efficiently and building in lessons learned.Support the wider Data & Analytics team with ad hoc requests as requested by line manager to date and quality.Responsible for creating the Technical Design and accountable for the quality of the Technical Design Document.
What you’ll needExperience developing BI and Analytic capability using current industry tools using both Waterfall and Agile approachesTechnical skills in SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS, analytics and visualisation toolsGood track record in estimating and task planningExperience of working with large scale business critical systemsAbility to lead mixed capability teams, providing direction and coaching.Experience of managing offshore resourceExcellent communication skillsEducated to Degree level in an engineering discipline or show relevant previous experienceAbility to work well under pressure.
