The Garden Room, a respected local restaurant in Falmouth, Cornwall is looking for a full-time Bar Manager to work 39 hours per week including evenings and weekends. The restaurant is part of the well-known Princess Pavilion and Gyllyngdune Public Gardens and is operated by GLL, the UK's largest leisure provider. The restaurant is a casual dining location overlooking the beach and has recently had investment to give it a new look and feel, new menu and new team. Based in a seaside tourist town, the restaurant has an annual turnover of £500,000.

As Bar Manager, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day operation and management of the bar, restaurant and reservation bookings. The importance of customer care in this role is key and you’ll lead and inspire your team to deliver the high standards that you expect. Thriving on variety, you’ll deal with everything from taking inventory and re-ordering supplies to negotiating supplier contracts, training staff and managing budgets. You’ll work well under pressure, meeting deadlines ensuring licenses are updated in line with current legislation and quality and safety controls are enforced. This role offers a real chance to show that you can take ownership and responsibility of the restaurant and bar to come up with new ideas to make it a success with existing customers and potential new customers alike. You’ll develop the drinks menu as well as liaising with the Head Chef regarding food menu changes and the Events Manager about upcoming events.

This role would suit an experienced team leader/manager from a restaurant environment or catering manager with ambitions to take their career to the next level. Naturally, you’ll understand the business side of catering such as managing P&L accounts and budgets, staffing and recruiting, managing budgets, P&L (including food costs and wastage), stock levels and building excellent supplier relationships.
