GLL, the UK's largest leisure provider is looking for casual Cycle Instructors to work across Central Lancashire covering Preston, Chorley and South Ribble. Working hours will cover weekends, evenings and daytimes. Working as part of the Sport and Health Development team, your aim will be to support people to learn to ride and gain more cycling experience with the overall objective of helping to improve the health and wellbeing of the local community.

Whether it's for recreation cycling or active travel, you'll be able to impart your passion for cycling onto people who may be nervous beginners or confident improvers. The team have secured funds to give us a fleet of bikes enabling you to teach those from 18 months old up to adulthood. The lessons will be delivered out and about within the community including in parks and schools. 


You'll thrive on seeing people learn, thrive and even face their fears over cycling - whatever their age. You should have experience of leading and assisting group cycle rides and cycle-related activities for the local community as well as coaching Learn to Cycle skills and/or delivering National Standards Cycle Training / Bikeability. You should have at least one of the following qualifications plus your first aid certifcate:

  • Cycle Ride Leader Qualification (e.g. British Cycling Level 1 or 2 Ride Leadership Award, Health on Wheels, CTC Leadership award)
  • National Standards Instructor
  • Pre Pedal Trainer / Balance Bike Instructor (Highly Desirable)
  • Cytech or City and Guilds Cycle Maintenance and Repair (Desirable)
