Commercial Finance Manager – Retail Finance

About the role:

The Retail Finance team business partners field based, central retail and people teams to provide governance, insight, support and challenge.

The team plays a key role in ensuring we deliver the company plan, through focused cost control, delivering high quality insight, holding teams to account on overall P&L/KRA delivery, Low Cost Operating Model, strategic change and investment initiatives.

The vacancy is commercial finance support for both the North Superstore and broader retail teams, all of whom are field based. This is a varied role and to be successful you will need to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels, including a number of Senior Directors and Vice Presidents.

You will be responsible for understanding and driving improvements in commercial performance, delivering high quality insight to senior stakeholders to challenge and hold them to account.


The Ins and Outs:Driving delivery of the 2018 plan in partnership with Senior Directors and Vice Presidents using a combination of insight and challengeProviding guidance to help mitigate risks and capitalise on opportunitiesInterpreting and communicating trends within financial data

Business partner Vice President for North Superstores, providing governance and challenge to drive performance

Create and present ad hoc analysis relating to both North Superstores and more broadly across operations

Get involved in the newly established ‘deep dive’ process to provide clear opportunities to improve performance

Help to provide direction for Retail commercial analyst team, stepping on analytical output and value creation

Play a key role in Digital Finance, helping the team and business unlock the significant benefits of new technology

Play an integral role in the Retail Finance planning process

Play a key role in creation, consolidation and updates to monthly Retail pack

What you’ll need:
Qualified accountant – ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification requiredExperience in influencing commercial agenda and decision makingAbility to build and maintain exceptional customer relationshipsConfident and pro-active with the ability to challenge and influence at a senior levelStrong analytical and communication skillsGood commercial awareness
