Our team is responsible for providing and maintaining tools used by Tesco in order to monitor and secure our systems, while also helping our colleagues globally.

This is a very exciting opportunity to lead the vision and strategy for one of Europes largest Splunk platforms, ingesting several terabytes of data daily. This platform supports our worldwide Technology and business teams for both operations and security. The platform has been built as a multi-site cluster hybrid platform in the cloud and on-prem. The role includes both the evolution of the platform and its capabilities as well as the end user experience from on-boarding to value maximisation.

Main Responsibilities

Product Manager (Splunk)

Whilst specific responsibilities will be dependent upon the changing needs of the Tesco business, the following provides an overview of the roles key responsibilities and measures:

  • Ownership of our Splunk product and roadmap
  • Product evangelism to engineering teams across the UK and India to showcase the product capabilities
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to understand product requirements and work with the vendor to influence their roadmaps
  • Work closely with the vendor to provide visibility into the status of upcoming product releases/features and present internally
  • Develop and own plans to roll out the product to engineering teams across Tesco including improving the roll out processes
  • Creating and tracking usage KPIs for the product including the maturity of each teams implementation
  • Effectively present the vision, roadmap, key KPIs and execution plans for the product
  • Work closely with the Security Engineering team to allow them to enrich results from the tool and help development teams to fix defects identified
  • Monitor and track product feedback to help in driving the direction and prioritisation of new features and functionality
  • This role will best suit an individual who enjoys working as part of a team, is well organised, pragmatic and a lateral thinker with an inquisitive mind who is motivated to make change for the better and, most importantly, puts our customers first.

  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Great presentation & persuasion skills
  • Team Player who could work collaboratively with other members of the team.

Experience relevant for this job

  • Extensive experience of Splunk Enterprise Platform and features
  • Experience with user adoption and rollout of Splunk Enterprise (desirable)
  • Cloud Deployment and Security (desired)
  • Coding Experience (desired)

Product management best practice & methodologies

  • Experience or interest in working with Security products and within application security
  • Knowledge and experience of software development methodologies and processes
  • Vendor management experience
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of the technologies relevant to product management.
  • Knowledge and experience of software development methodologies and processes.
