Job Summary:

As our strategic Sales and Marketing business partner you will champion, develop and implement property-wide strategies that deliver in all relevant business goals.

The Director of Sales and Marketing is responsible for property reactive sales, outside of the London Sales Office (Event Booking Centre), proactive account sales and segment sales, local and social catering sales, business travel sales, reservation sales and destination sales.

You have responsibility for achieving revenue goals, guest and associate satisfaction and the financial performance of the Hotel. Your role will be to implement the brand’s sales and marketing strategy and applicable brand initiatives in all aspects of the Sales process.

You will lead on-property sales functions to build long-term, value-based client relationships that enables achievement of hotel sales objectives.

You will have a dual reporting relationship to the General Manager and the Area Director of Sales and Marketing, and will be an integral member of London Sales & Marketing community.

  • Focuses on and is responsible for the hotels top line revenue. 
  • Develops and implements a sales strategy that utilizes on-property sales resources and leverages all above property sales engines to deliver results. 
  • Leads on property Initiates independent activities to generate revenue when appropriate.
  • Works with revenue management and operations department heads to ensure departmental sales and marketing strategies are aligned with the overall hotel plan.
  • Where applicable, works in conjunction with Marketing & Partnerships Manager to proactively position and market the property and execute hotel specific campaigns, promotions, collateral, etc. to drive revenue and meet property objectives. 
  • Works with Revenue Management to develop segment strategy for group, transient and catering; supports proper pricing, appropriate transient and group mix and ensures implementation of sales strategy. 
  • Addresses fluctuating market and economic conditions by partnering with Revenue Management to change sales strategy.

  • Ensures sales and marketing information provided to the Operations departments is timely, accurate and enables property to meet or exceed guest expectations, create client loyalty and grow market share. 
  • Ensures execution of applicable brand initiatives in all Sales processes.
  • Develops a trusting and respectful business partnership with property ownership by meeting or exceeding expectations in generating top line revenue. Strong communication and presentation skills are essential

You’ll need to know your stuff:

  • Solid knowledge in the financial statements, data and overall operations of the hotel business.
  • Ability to perform and recognise aspects of F&B procedures in order to manage and resolve.
  • Clarity and understanding of the wider hotel disciplines, their performance measures and impact on the financial controls.

You’ll be expected to deliver on the following:

  • You will have full accountability for sales, profit, guest satisfaction, associate satisfaction, operations and stock management and will be required to monitor performance against budget.
  • Review reports and financial statements to determine F&B operations performance against budget.
  • Coach and support operations team to effectively manage volume and spend, wages and controllable expenses.
  • Ensure compliance with management contract and reporting requirements as well as with standard and local operating procedures.
  • Ensure team members are cross-trained to support successful daily operations.
  • Ensure property policies are administered fairly and consistently.
  • Ensure new hires participate in the department’s orientation program.
  • Ensure new hires receive the appropriate new hire training to successfully perform their job.
  • Create appropriate development plans which develop team members based on their individual strengths, development needs, career aspirations and abilities.
  • Conduct performance review process for employees.
  • Champion the hiring activities of your team, as appropriate.
  • Be a role model and demonstrate appropriate behaviours to all.
