Sous Chef

We are seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join our Kitchen team at Old Thorns, In return, we offer our Chefs a competitive salary depending on experience plus excellent benefits.

Working at our prestigious, luxury Resort Hotel, we need an exceptional person to join our kitchen team.

The ideal Sous Chef will help to lead and motivate the team, ensure that the companies’ high standards are delivered and that budgeted profitability is achieved.

Sous Chef Main Responsibilities:

• Ensuring the smooth running of the kitchen on a day to day basis
• Ensuring that all food stuffs are stored correctly and stocks are rotated in line with the food hygiene regulations
• Controlling quality of food and ensure food wastage is kept to a minimum
• Ensuring that any faults or damage to equipment is reported as soon as possible
• Ensuring temperature and delivery checks are carried out and recorded
• Assisting in product development and to positively approach sales opportunities in order to maximize revenue to meet and exceed budget sales
• Ensuring the Kitchen complies with statutory and legal requirements for fire, health & safety, hygiene and food safety

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

• Have a previous experience leading a busy kitchen
• Have experience within a banqueting operation
• Be passionate about delivering quality food and excellent customer service
• Be efficient, organised and have excellent planning and communication skills
• Hold an NVQ Level 3 in Food Preparation and Food Safety in Catering Certification
• Be efficient, organised and have a flexible and adaptable attitude

This is a full time position working 45 hours per week (excluding breaks), 5 days per week Monday to Sunday.
