Female Fitness and Wellbeing Consultant

Basingstoke Sports Trust is looking to recruit a passionate, friendly, professional and self-motivated Fitness and Wellbeing Consultant to join our Ladies Only Gym team at our Sports Centre in the heart of Basingstoke inside Festival Place. Due to the nature of the role there is a genuine occupational requirement under the Equality Act 2010 to only consider female applicants for this vacancy.

Hours of work will be: Monday 14.30-21.00, Tuesday 14.00-19.00, Tuesday 17.00-21.00, Friday 11.00-15.00,
Sunday ( week 2) 8.00-17.00

We are looking for someone who will put people first and deliver excellent customer service whilst engaging with our customers to build rapport at all times. As Fitness and Wellbeing Consultant you will be on the gym floor, conducting inductions and health checks and developing programmes to help our customers understand the benefits of leading healthy lifestyles. You will be at least REPS 2 qualified with a strong fitness background and have experience of working in a gym environment. You will be an excellent team player, be flexible and have strong organisational skills.

You will play a leading role in helping to organise and attend events to actively promote the Trust, its memberships and activities and will bring your passion to help support customers work towards their fitness goals. You will also work with our Health and Wellbeing team to promote our Active in Health programmes and assist with consultations as required.

We will expect you to have a high standard of personal presentation at all times and to communicate your sound knowledge of fitness training and nutritional advice to customers effectively. You must also be computer literate and be able to prioritise workload. Experience of motivational interviewing techniques, smoking cessation and Making Every Contact Count are desirable but not essential as training will be provided.

Basingstoke Sports Centre boasts a membership of over 5,300 with almost 700 of these being dedicated Shape members.  With one of the largest single site memberships in the Country, we’re proud of what we have achieved and are always looking to improve.  We have invested nearly £500,000 refurbishing our Evolve mixed gym in December 2016 and undertook a small refurb in Shape.  We’ve since added additional kit to both gyms and have upgraded the air-conditioning in Shape.  We’ve been finalists in the ukactive Flame Awards two years running and won awards for our National Fitness Day contributions.  If you’re exceptional too and are looking for a progressive employer who invests in their product and helps the team develop then we need to hear from you.
