Director of Operations - London

Director of Operations - The Hoxton, Shoreditch

We are looking for an experienced Director of Operations to join our team at The Hoxton, Shoreditch.  This is where The Hoxton was born, back in 2006, as the first of a series of open-house hotels inspired by the diversity and originality of the streets and scenes that surround them. Since then we have opened a Hoxton in Holborn, Paris and Amsterdam and continue to grow with more openings planned in the US and London.

As Ops Director you’ll be a key member of the team, impacting all areas of the business and ultimately ensuring our guests are having a great and unique experience with us.  It’s a great opportunity to run the show as if it were your own (with the support of a fantastic team of course) and you can expect to develop to a General Manager within a year or two.

What you’ll do:

That’s the core of your role. We’re not really the long-winded-job-description type but here’s a bit more detail on what we see you doing:

  • Contribute meaningfully to all areas of the business, from the big picture to the small details
  • Take responsibility for the financial side of things: owning your P&L, contributing to annual budget planning and generally mastering the balance between cost and quality that The Hoxton is known for
  • Quality is your middle name. You’d never be satisfied with being number 255 on TripAdvisor; you’ll lead our existing Quality Evaluation processes and find ways to make them better
  • Lead and manage a team of high-energy people who love our guests, by setting and monitoring goals, empowering and developing them, and creating a high-performing environment where people can be themselves
  • Sometimes the shit hits the fan…but you’ll be our eye in the storm, the go to for finding a creative solution sharpish
  • You’re great at spinning multiple plates – it’s a fast-paced place and we like to keep a handful of projects on the go at the same time

What we’re looking for:

  • You’re an experienced, commercially savvy hotel operator in both rooms and food & beverage. As comfortable with the strategic as with the day-to-day detail and can easily connect the two.
  • Currently working in a lifestyle or high-end contemporary hotel in London (or a similar market) would be an advantage
  • A natural at leading and managing others, you create an environment where your team can be their best self and lead by example
  • You’re looking for a place where you can be you; no clones in suits for us
  • Genuine passion for hospitality…in the wider sense of the word
  • You’re not precious; we all leave our egos at the door and help get shit done
  • You’ve got ideas; we’re up for doing things differently and trying (almost) everything once
  • You’re all about having a positive impact on the people you interact with, leaving them with a memorable experience
  • You’re easy to talk to. If we got stuck in a lift together, we’d share a few laughs
  • You want to be part of a team that works hard, supports each other and has fun along the way
