Our Buying team, here at George House, learn everything there is to know about the George customer so that they can be sure the styles they offer are exactly what our customers want. This high profile & key growth category requires a Menswear buying specialist to drive the range forward. It’s a fantastic opportunity. You’ll be focussed on developing and sourcing a commercial range which meets and excites our customers whilst delivering maximum sales and profit.

The ins & outs:

As the Buyer on Menswear you will be responsible for overall department strategy, determining category splits against sales and options, as set in strategy in conjunction with the Merchandise Manager. You will be responsible for profitability targets including margin, sales, and number of options as well as in season trading & open to buy.

You’ll work closely with the sourcing team, supplier base and wider department to ensure critical path management and supplier compliance whilst liaising with technical (QA) to improve product quality and fit.
You will:
•Manage the Buying team through development of self and others through regular 1-2-1’s, live personal development plans, appraisal process, coaching, succession planning & recruitment.
•Continually trial new initiatives, driving new business strategy forward to best utilise space and provide customer choice.
•Be accountable for Market strategy, trading activity, customer and competitor profiles to increase George positioning within the market place via growth in market share

What you’ll need:

An experienced Buyer or high performing Junior Buyer, you will have gained experience within a fast paced, trend driven, retail, high street, supplier menswear buying environment and be passionate about this product category.
A natural leader you will demonstrate commercial acumen, strategic planning and review skills coupled with the ability to work cross functionally with design, merchandising and technical to produce a market leading menswear offer.
