What does an archery instructor do at summer camp?

From Katniss Everdeen to Robin hood, campers love to become their heroes during archery at camp. Being an archery instructor in America is incredibly fun and rustic, being out at the target range you’ll be able to work with campers on their stance, aim and shooting technique. With beginners sessions and inter-camp competitions, you’ll typically run sessions throughout the morning and afternoons, for campers all ages and abilities. Camps will have differing equipment and you should be prepared to use long bows and compound bows.

Archery at camp is all about experience, being enthusiastic and engaging. You should be able to provide solid instruction and supervision for campers when at your activity, safety is the number one priority and you should show your awareness.

Archery is a great activity for games, think balloons filled with candy and paint, it’s easily a camper favourite!

Why should I teach archery at camp?

Shooting arrows, playing games and creating competitions - if you love archery and would really like the opportunity to teach, then this is a fantastic way to combine your passion with travelling the USA. Archery jobs abroad don’t get better than this.

Camp directors are looking for someone who is passionate about archery and who can inspire the campers within their sessions - even if you haven’t got any qualifications in archery, but some great prior experience, because this skill is so highly demanded, a camp may be interested in hiring you for this role and train you in-house.
