An exciting opportunity to oversee a brand-new state of the art Sports & Education Centre

5 days per week over a 7-day period. Must be flexible to work various shifts in-between 7am and 10.30pm. 40 hours per week.

Role Summary

Working closely with the Chairman and the General Manager of Mill Farm you will be charged with providing leadership and strategic direction to education entre staff, delivering a first-class service to stakeholders, whilst providing support on all day-to-day operations.

Main duties: -

  • Performance
  • To develop, implement and evaluate operational policies & procedures for the education centre.
  • Produce and manage performance of all KPIs.
  • Analyse and interpret data to identify how the centre’s performance can be improved both operationally and financially.
  • Devise, implement and monitor performance standards to ensure sales targets and customer needs are met by individual staff.
  • People
  • Ensure staff constantly identify and respond to changes in patterns of customer needs and expectations.
  • Provide effective leadership to staff within the centre enabling people to perform to their full potential.
  • Implement all company HR procedures to staff within the centre.
  • Carry out six monthly employee performance and development reviews where applicable.
  • Identify any training/development needs to ensure ongoing competence of those involved in service delivery.
  • Full responsibility for recruitment, induction, training, appraisal, development and performance management of staff.
  • Ensure all staff personnel files are completed, maintained and updated where necessary.
  • Financial
  • Ensure all costs are kept within agreed plan and continuously seek to achieve efficiencies and reduce costs where possible.
  • Identify opportunities for external funding which support business aims and objectives.
  • Set, drive and achieve financial targets and KPI’s, including customer service, utilisation and revenue targets.
  • Ensure security measures and policies relating to cash, stock and assets are implemented effectively.
  • Operations
  • Effectively manage the building, equipment and materials to ensure their effective use and the safety of all staff and visitors.
  • Maintain and promote safe working practices through the development and implementation of appropriate safety policies and procedures. Ensure staff adhere to health and safety guidance and legislation.
  • Ensure timely and thorough investigation of any accidents and that procedures are in place to reduce risk of claims.
  • Ensure Risk Assessments and all Health & Safety procedures and records are kept up to date, and that staff are fully briefed on all aspects of Health and Safety legislation and industry guidelines.
  • Manage all staff rotas and compliance to meet the needs of the business.
  • Liaise with the Conference & Events Sales manager to ensure all events and bookings are correctly organised.
  • Customers
  • Consult proactively with service users, partners, stakeholders and employees with the aim of maximizing participation and customer satisfaction.
  • Evaluate both internal and external feedback and take appropriate action with a view to continuously improve service.
  • Ensure that customer focus is promoted as a core value by all staff.
  • Develop, maintain and promote partnership working with the aim of improving customer retention and represent the centre at meetings with relevant external stakeholders.
  • Deal with complaints and general queries escalated from centre staff.
  • Monitor customer and club partner feedback with the aim of improving services where possible.
  • Partnerships
  • Regularly meet with Centre Partners (Fylde Hockey, Academy. Foundation) to ensure terms of usage are being adhered to and adequate service is being provided to them.
  • Negotiate updated terms with partners as and when required.
  • Work with partners to increase exposure of the centre via internal and external events in the local community.
  • Ensure partner groups are invoiced as per their terms and money received for all bookings used.
  • Other
  • Identify funding opportunities for new projects from both public and private sector sources.
  • Work closely with the Mill Farm General Manager to organise promotions.
  • Attend industry events and conferences and provide feedback and information on market and creative trends.
  • Identify opportunities for campaigns and services that will lead to an increase in sales.

About You

  • Experience in a similar Leisure/Sports management role is essential.
  • Experience of managing large revenue streams
  • Able to manage in a fast-paced customer facing environment.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a flexible approach to work at all times.
  • A natural rapport builder at all levels.
