About the role:

The pace of change within our online business is rapidly increasing as our customers demand different ways to shop as a result of developing expectation. As part of the George.com team, you will be involved in all phases of development on our bespoke web-based product information management software, which captures all content and more for products on www.George.com.

This is an exciting entry level role offering the successful candidate the opportunity to progress in not only a small dedicated online development team, but also a successful and growing wider e-commerce team. You will get exposure to a wide range of ecommerce disciplines by working cross-functionally in order to offer our internal customers a fast, friendly and efficient experience.

There’s a lot to learn on the job in this role, but we’re here to help and make sure you do so.

The ins and outs:
  • You will be actively involved in scoping requirements for development stories including workshops and dedicated sessions with various teams around the ASDA business
  • You will develop your requirements / user story writing skills and work with our off-site development team to bring to life
  • A focus of product data quality is key, to provide the best online experience for the customerYou will coordinate with your team and assist our stakeholders with training of the bespoke software and technical supportYou will have the opportunity to participate in daily, weekly and quarterly team meetings, including our off-site development team and various teams around the ASDA businessActively seek and run regular sessions to update stakeholders on any progress, new features or support alertingSmall steps to improve the way we work is important, you’ll have plenty of opportunity to review the way you and the team work and put forward your view of how to continuously improveIn this friendly environment you will develop strong working relationships with our website storefront, trading, operations and development teams. There’s more, you will also make strong bonds with teams outside of our online function
    What you’ll need:
  • Suitable for a recent graduate
  • Ability to learn new systems quickly
  • Either a technical mind-set or experience (e.g. previous roles, degrees or extra activities)
  • Comfortable processing large volumes of data using dedicated tools and other software – such as excel
  • Strong communication skills - ability to interact and communicate with your team and others
  • Ability to prioritise own workload and multi-task in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to learn new systems quickly
  • Have a strong eye for detail
  • Basic HTML is preferable
  • Familiar to AGILE ways of working and if not, a desire to learn this effective method of delivering software enhancements
