Salary

£30,000 to £35,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Work Pattern

Full Time working mainly dayshift Monday to Friday but flexibility is required.

Job Description

As a materials and efficiency planning manager you are responsible for leading and managing the planning processes for our raw material product portfolio, including the purchasing, inventory management, and supply for all direct materials. The management duties include inventory, planning, deployment, and exception management for direct materials supporting multiple lines of business and product platforms. This leader will provide strategic direction for the purchasing function and develop processes and systems to ensure consistent delivery of all key goals and objectives. This role is the key interface between supply planning and manufacturing to deliver outstanding customer service levels. The ideal candidate has the ability to manage projects and lead cross functional teams, analyze and improve processes, and mentor and develop others.

Key Responsibilities

  • Creating and implementing strategies to deliver materials planning excellence across the site, which includes both direct materials and efficient labour utilisation
  • Developing and managing purchasing strategies to maintain optimal inventory levels across the site, while minimising total cost and delivering outstanding service levels
  • Taking full responsibility for leading a planning team and developing a strong succession plan
  • Becoming one of the SAP super users and training and mentoring the teams
  • Supporting strategic goals to enable bottom-line and top-line company growth, and corporate social responsibility leadership
  • Balancing demand plans and supply capability and delivery. This includes identifying and evaluating risks leading to the development and recommendation of best course of action
  • Driving alignment with cross-functional peers, including finance, commercial, manufacturing, procurement, and R&D to understand business needs and resolve issues
  • Effectively managing multiple competing projects and deadlines
  • Efficiently solving problems and making decisions for primary and strategic execution and tactical issues within the portfolio of materials
  • Negotiating with suppliers to achieve business objectives which may include cost savings, risk mitigation, inventory partnerships (such as vendor managed inventory)

Skills

  • BA/BS in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Engineering, Science, Business, or related field. Minimum of 3 to 5 years of related experience in forecasting, production planning, manufacturing, procurement, or purchasing.
  • Candidates for this position should have a demonstrated track record of success in supply chain roles such as purchasing, production planning, forecasting, procurement, or manufacturing.
  • Experience managing a team, with responsibility for coaching and developing the team.
  • Capable of trouble shooting issues, comfortable working with incomplete data, and able to make reasonable recommendations to others, including executive management.
  • Must be highly skilled and capable of working between and within multiple systems to gather information to manage the business, such as SAP, Excel, Tableau, etc.
