Maintenance Technician - London
Reports to: Operations Manager / General Manage
Summary of Position:
The Maintenance Engineer will be responsible primarily for general maintenance and repairs in the lounges and back of house areas. Entry-level preventative maintenance are included. The Maintenance Engineer will also perform some repairs on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and kitchen equipment and will co-ordinate with contractors for areas outside their control.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Respond to engineering and maintenance concerns.
- Performs and/or monitors maintenance and preventative maintenance projects.
- Respond to all building related safety concerns.
- Maintains compliance with lounge maintenance procedures.
- Supports maintenance programs and executes daily, weekly and monthly checklists. Assists in the supervision of temporary contractors.
- Assist management in specifying proper supplies and equipment for operations.
- Maintain the rooms/showers, public space, and back of the house areas in good repair by performing various tasks related to a variety of trades including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, wall covering and tiling to ensure an attractive and well-maintained environment.
- Give responses to all visitors in an effective and prompt manner.
- Carry out inspection on public areas on a daily basis in case of problems arising unexpectedly.
- Carry out consistent preventive maintenance programs and regularly update records on files.
- Any other reasonable request within the scope of your role
Qualifications / Essential Skills
- Previous construction or hotel maintenance department supervisory or management experience.
- At least 6 months experience in a similar capacity.
- Must possess knowledge of basic hand/power tool operation.
- Should have basic understanding of HVAC, electrical, plumbing and carpentry concepts.
- Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours).
- Must be available to respond to emergencies when not physically at the job site.
- Satisfactorily communicate in English with guests, management, coworkers and contractors.
- Ability to work a variety of varying schedules.
- Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow- through, courtesy, cooperativeness and work with a minimum of supervision.
- Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to grasp, bend, and stoop; push or pull heavy loads and lift and/or carry or otherwise move packages.
- Punctuality and regular and reliable attendance.
