Data Scientist / Data Science Analyst
About the role;
Working in Central Merchandising, an integral function within the Merchandising team, you will be responsible for producing and maintaining algorithms, tools and programs to enable the Merchandising teams to manage Categories and produce World Class planograms.
This role would suit individuals with previous experience in a similar Data Science role or individuals with a Degree in Maths, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science or Engineering look to progress their careers.
The Ins and Outs:Develop, maintain and code algorithms in SQL, Alteryx and R Work Alongside Offshore Data Analytic Teams in developing tools for all WalMart markets Have the ability to scrutinise complex statistical data, testing and feeding back for continual improvement Develop & maintain accurate Tableau dashboards Develop, maintain and ensure accurate Merchandising BI Day to Day administration and continuous improvement of Core Merchandising Systems Identify opportunities for innovation, to meet or exceed the needs of our customers and colleagues Ensure all operational solutions are fit for purpose Ensure all solutions make things better for customers, simpler for colleagues and cheaper for Asda Deliver internal metrics Resolve issues quickly, effectively and without disruption to our colleagues or customers Process complex data efficiently and effectively, investigating and challenging where appropriate Conduct regular system integrity checks What you’ll need:Degree in Maths, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science or Engineering (or similarly highly numerate subject) or experience within a Data Science role. Master’s degree would be desirable Strong track record of developing algorithms to optimise logistical problems ideally within the retail sector Working knowledge of languages such as C#, Python and R An ability to engage with key stakeholders from all areas of the business A proactive approach, owning and managing several projects at once Strong written and verbal communication skills
