Finance Officer/ Purchase Ledger – National Office – 22.5 Hours per week - £16,304 to £21,700 per annum (pro rata)
Start Date: ASAP
Please Note: This role is open to internal and external candidates of YHA.
A fantastic opportunity has arisen at National Office to join the Finance team in the role of Finance Officer/Purchase Ledger.
This flexible 22.5 hour contract will allow the suitable candidate the opportunity to work within the finance team with hours open to discussion.
As Finance Officer/Purchase Ledger you would be responsible for promptly processing all YHA supplier invoices for payment (in accordance with YHA Policy), as well as operating purchase ledger processes, procedure and systems as set by the Purchase Ledger Manager.
Key Role Responsibilities and Accountabilities of the Finance Officer role:
- To ensure timely and efficient invoice processing
- To take calls from suppliers and answer all queries professionally
- To develop and maintain contacts/relationships with key suppliers to assist with efficient processing
- To reconcile key supplier account statements on a quarterly basis
- To deal with queries on invoices, payments and accounts in a timely, efficient and professional manner
- Provide cover and support within Finance Team as required
- Check, code, input and ensure correct payment of duly authorised invoices in line with YHA policy
- Process scanned invoices on the appropriate authorisation route, seeking guidance if required
- Be responsible for the payment of suppliers by BACS in line with departmental procedures and deadlines
- To check and reconcile supplier statements and to follow up and resolve any discrepancies
- Support reconciliation of Hostel Banking & Income Returns to provide cover and help with processing backlogs
Applicants will be required to demonstrate:
- Previous experience of working within a purchase ledger or finance function (desirable)
- Basic level accountancy training or qualification (desirable)
- Knowledge and understanding of YHA and its customer base
- Ability to prioritise, organise and deliver work accurately
- Ability to problem solve in a consistent and efficient manner.
- Good teamwork skills
- Good numeracy and literacy skills.
- Proficient in basic computer skills.
- Confident verbal and written communication skills able to communicate with people at all levels
