As Assistant Manager you will have shared ownership for the success of business by driving the business forward and managing your team to be the best they can be. Quite simply it’s about being brilliant all of the time! With your team as your main focus, you will recruit, train and develop them and ensure that they are treated with fairness and equality in line with our Company policies and ethos. Your team will join the brand but will ultimately work for you and therefore as a business leader their engagement and development is of paramount importance. You are expected to do everything you can to ensure that they receive the best training possible, encouraging them to master their roles and creating an environment that is fun, where they can enjoy coming to work and giving our guests a great experience. Communication is a key leadership behaviour which should be used to motivate your team through regular management and team meetings. You will also communicate effectively with the internal support teams to ensure that good relationships are maintained. You are responsible for the motivation of your team through recognition, positive feedback and the implementation of incentives schemes which fulfil the team’s motivational needs. You are also responsible for developing a succession plan for your restaurant through continuous support and development of your team. By ensuring all this takes place you can develop a team that will look after their guests and ensure everyone has great time!

Key Business Responsibilities:

• Understand the short and long term business plans for your restaurant, considering internal and external influences
• When controlling the business, make resilient and decisive plans which ensure that all of your guests will be served in a prompt and professional manner.
• Work with the General Manager, Deputy Manager and Kitchen Manager to ensure that you always deliver excellent food, service and presentation by having high standards/ by implementing the core standards and business efficient rota planning
• Maximise profitability through driving sales and controlled margins
• Supporting local marketing initiatives that build on and develop current sales levels
• Report accurate purchase and wage costs on your shifts
• Ensure that all Company paperwork is completed correctly and any concerns are reported to your General Manager
• Support the General Manager with the management of stock, security and wastage and implement initiatives to control any areas of concern
• Your business will be safe at all times and you will ensure that the restaurant complies with all legislation regarding Health & Safety and Hygiene Licensing Laws.
• You have joint responsibility to ensure that all employees are trained to the minimum legal requirements as stated in the Company Health & Safety manual.
• Ensure the security of the premises, stock and cash.
• Be responsible for the further implementation of any additional legal requirements stated by the Company or related legal authorities.
• To monitor the maintenance of the premises and equipment and report recommended action to your Area Manager.

• Work for a period of time as a cover in another restaurant to gain new experiences
• Complete a TQC and follow up action plan-present findings to GM
• Be involved in the recruitment of team members
• Ongoing coaching of team members
• Take control of a regular section of a full Team meeting
• Run 4 consecutive stock counts and understand the cause of any variances
• Complaint handling - complete actions
• Take ownership of key shifts
• Complete a competitor report – focusing on marketing, menu, service and environment
• Carry out Team Member job reviews
• HR- investigations, note taking
• Be aware of the restaurant’s last audit scores
• Run an incentive and review its effectiveness – focusing on short and long term motivation
• Show awareness of site training needs using the training matrix and Flow system
• Show awareness of local marketing plans
• Know your restaurant’s Journey to the stars scores
