Spa Host - The Coniston Hotel Country Estate & Spa

Role Core Competencies and Characteristics 

As a Spa Host you’ll need to be well presented and have high standards of cleanliness and presentation. You’ll have to be highly personable and enjoy working with members of the general public. It can be a physically demanding job, requiring you to be on your feet for long periods of time, so good energy levels, physical fitness and stamina is also important.

  • Demonstrates strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities with attention to detail.

  • Team player and proactively looks for ways to enhance the level of service provided to internal customers; therefore allowing them to focus on their key responsibilities.

  • Ability to work flexible hours including days, evenings, , weekends and holidays, including overtime as required.
  • Be flexible with all other duties assigned by the Spa Manager or senior that will assist and support the mandate of the Spa and its ongoing success.

Operational

  • To be the lifeguard on duty if required and deal with any pool incidents as required.
  • Opening up and closing down duties including thermal suite and therapist area.
  • To carry out pool water testing every two hours within the Health & Safety guidelines ensuring chemical balance is maintained in all pool water at all times.
  • To carry out day to day plant room maintenance checks and regular backwashing and spa water changes as required.
  • To ensure all areas of the spa including pool, thermal suite, changing rooms, spa treatment public area are checked regularly for cleanliness and tidiness. In addition outdoor areas.
  • Replenish shampoo, shower gel and towels if necessary.
  • To support the cleaners with laundry tasks.
  • To support the reception team with answering the telephone, taking messages, making simple bookings ect
  • To support the F&B team, up selling and serving drinks, covering the brasserie to meet business demands by making simple drinks, serving and clearing tables and pot washing.
  • To support the therapist team, setting rooms up between treatments, replenishing stock and refreshments, creating a relaxing ambience for all guests  ect.
  • To constantly show a presence in the spa area (Poolside and outdoor spa) to ensure this area is kept clean and tidy.
  • To take drinks orders from customers who are in the spa, take the drinks out and also take payment from them
  • To show spa day guests where to go for treatments and also their ‘spa journey’ to explain the benefits of each thermal cabin.
  • To be responsible for the distribution of new therapist towels when they arrive on site and to count them to ensure the amount they have delivered matches up to the amount they have written down.
  • To be fully conversant with the Spa’s and offering in all departments.
  • Report any unusual occurrences immediately to your line manager.

Human Resource

  • To attend departmental induction and company orientation training
  • To support excellent working relationships within the department
  • To follow the SOP’s for all leave (holiday, un-paid, sickness,)
  • To attend and contribute in all training booked by management
  • To adhere to company dress code and to maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and cleanliness.

Health & Safety/ Legal

  • To carry out and log daily H&S checks in relation to the changing rooms, pool area, water, thermal suite and outdoor areas.
  • Ensure that all departmental equipment used is maintained and in good working order.
  • To always use the correct cleaning materials and in the correct manner at all times as laid down by the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health, (COSHH) Regulations 1988 and maintain your department COSHH Register.
  • Ensure safe working practices are adhered to at all times.
  • Proactively support the Health and Safety Policy of the Coniston Spa in conjunction with the Health & Safety at Work Act.
  • Comply with the Fire Safety Policy of the Coniston Spa.
  • To follow first aid procedures in the event of dealing with an accident.
  • Ensure you are familiar with the health and safety regulations laid out by the Coniston Spa.
  • To deal with any accidents quickly, efficiently and following the correct procedure.
  • To identify, deal with and alert the manager to any H&S issue.
  • Attend and contribute to Health & Safety Meetings as required.
