Overview of the role
An exciting opportunity for a Night Porter has arisen at this beautifully refurbished hotel. The Night Porter will join our front office team whose role is to ensure all of our guests receive a distinctive and intuitive guest experience.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Reception duties including checking guests in and out, answering telephone calls and dealing with guest requests throughout the night
- Running the night audit as and when requested to by the Night or Assistant Night Manager
- Completing hotel walk rounds throughout the night ensuring security and fire safety; addressing and/or reporting any issues or shortfalls in standards
- Supporting & participating in the event of an emergency
- Dealing with issues occurring at night which involves complaint handling and potentially managing difficult guests and situations
- Clearing and setting up conference/ function rooms
- Taking Room Service orders, basic food preparation and delivery of room service to guests
- Providing general guest service, ensuring complete guest satisfaction is achieved at all times
- Performing basic accounting activities to support our Finance department
- Ordering and delivery of guest’s newspapers and actioning early morning wake up calls.
The Night Porter will work 39 hours a week, 5 days over 7 on a rota basis, with each shift being 10.45pm to 7.15am.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal Night Porter will be able to display the following;
- Passionate about delivering high levels of guest service, ensuring all health and safety and hotel standards are adhered to
- Previous experience of working within a hotel or cruise ship environment with experience in Nights, Food & Beverage or Meeting & Events Operations.
- Excellent personal presentation, professional at all times and have a pro-active approach in completing tasks
- Keen to play a role within the wider hotel team, which includes supporting other operational departments daily
- Able to work under pressure and on one’s own initiative
- Reliable and dependable
