Life Leisure is the trading name of Stockport Sports Trust a charitable trust and company limited by guarantee. Director’s/Trustee’s primary aim is to ensure strong governance is carried out and in compliance with the Charities Commission governing document and the laws related to limited companies. The Chair will have the responsibility for leading the Directors/Trustees in delivery of their obligations under the above directions and guidelines.

We are extremely proud of our achievements, from being awarded Best Not for Profit Organisation 2015 and Employer of the Year 2016 at the local Stockport Business Awards, as well as Employer of the Year (medium size) at the national UKactive Awards, to the success of our facilities that have won numerous awards including Regional Gym of the Year (North) 2017 and Centre of the Year (Streamline) 2017. These achievements are only made possible by our fantastic and happy team members, something evidenced by our staff satisfaction score (94%), low staff turnover (less than 2%) and high retention rate (over 75%); we’re primed for even further greatness!

The past 16 years have seen us grow from a leisure operator, to a provider of many cutting-edge and exciting health, sport and leisure initiatives; including our very own ActiLife technology designed to tackle increasing levels of inactivity. Our future includes expanding our offering to areas outside of Stockport to enable us to continue changing and improving the life of people across the UK, both as an employer and leisure provider.

Our organisational culture Preferred Behaviours = Personal Best is based on key learnings from both business and professional sport and was introduced in 2013 to begin an organisation-wide change, moving from a focus on skills, qualifications and experience to individuals’ behaviours in the workplace. Established using insights on how elite athletes and coaches go about their career and training every day to ultimately reach the very top in their chosen disciplines we began by introducing the W.A.T.C.H.
