If you're great with people and can be welcoming and confident with customers, you could start your career by training as an Administration Apprentice based at the Copper Box Arena, set in the iconic Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, East London. You'll be working with the team that delivers the largest talented athlete support scheme in the UK and supports the delivery of innovative community programmes that increase participation in sport and engage communities.

This 13 month apprenticeship will teach you how to deliver the very highest standards of customer service whether in person, on the phone or by email. Through supported work-based learning, you'll become adept at handling customer enquiries and using various software systems. The scheme will also give you a good grounding in all office skills including bookings and telephone skills. During this apprenticeship, you'll work towards your Level 2 Diploma in Business Admin, Employer Rights and Responsibilities and, where applicable, Functional Skills English and Maths.

You'll need to:

  • Be passionate - you'll love sport and want to work in an environment where you can make a difference to local communities
  • Be friendly - you'll be helping with lots of customers from all backgrounds on the telephone, via email and face to face.
  • Be hard-working - this is a busy programme, you will be liaising with athletes, community groups and funding applicants and dealing with their enquires
  • Enjoy learning - we'll train you to get a range of different qualifications
  • Use computers - some knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook) is essential
  • Have basic IT skills - you'll learn everything about booking systems to various types of software such as finance and social media platforms
  • Have good communication skills - both written and verbal. This is essential, not only for your learning and development, but will help you to deal with customers and colleagues alike
  • Have good organisation skills - being able to manage external supplier contracts and partnerships
