Holiday: 20 days plus bank holidays.

Following on from the success of Urban Health & Fitness, Christchurch the company is planned to open their second health club in Boscombe, Bournemouth in early September 2018.

The company is seeking a dynamic, passionate and motivated club manager to run the facility, to harness a strong fitness team that can deliver outstanding group exercise and fitness experiences as well as deliver the range of health services we offer.

The club will have three group exercise and fitness studios; a dedicated indoor cycling studio, a HiiT style studio utilising treadmills and a wellbeing studio. In addition, the club will have therapy rooms, a large personal training space, outdoor courtyard area where a range of classes, group lifting programmes will be delivered.

You must have previous industry experience, energy and enthusiasm to manage the day-to-day operations of a busy independent health club.

The suitable candidate will be required to start prior to help complete and set up and launch the new club.  Prior management and the ability to harness effective team working is essential.    

This role will include the following:

  • Recruiting, training and supervising staff
  • Managing budgets
  • Enhancing profitability by organising and delivering an appropriate range of fitness activities and programmes
  • Keeping statistical and financial records
  • Maintaining fitness equipment and maintaining gym standards (cleanliness, maintenance, OH&S etc)
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation
  • Maintaining customer service standards
  • Undertaking administrative tasks for the gym and health clinic
  • Promoting, marketing and reporting the business through multiple channels
  • Dealing with enquiries, complaints and emergencies
  • Sales management - driving sales through local community and corporate outreach
  • Marketing management to drive membership growth
  • Cross management cover with the club managers of the other site(s)

Candidates (Essential) should have the following:

  • The ability to build, organise and motivate a team of highly skilled individuals.
  • Level 3 REPS Certification
  • Experienced exercise class instructor  
  • Extensive sales and management experience (minimum 2 years at manager level)
  • First aid certificate
  • Outstanding customer service and people skills
  • Excellent Leadership Skills
  • A proven ability to hit targets
  • Good communication skills both verbally and written
  • Competent computer skills, i.e. Microsoft Word, Powerpoint and Excel

Desirable Skills include:

  • Qualifications in health, business or commerce or strong business acumen will be highly regarded.
  • Strong sales skills.
  • Understanding of profit and loss, budget analysis and understanding of financial planning
  • Experience in recruiting, developing and managing employees
  • Knowledge of health and safety guidelines
  • A degree qualification
