Our teams are growing! We have an exciting opportunity to bring on board a Buyer to join our growing team.

The Buyer will be accountable for the development and implementation of strategic Category Plans across several Food and Non Food categories.

This role reports into the Procurement Manager, and is based in Woodford Green, with a requirement to attend meetings in Central London on a regular basis.


The Role:

• Accountable for the Procurement of Directs categories across the Group covering both Food and Non Food areas, by driving Category Management to initiate and implement strategic plans
• Develop, negotiate and administer purchasing agreements with supplier partners in support of organisational requirements and Category Plans.
• Manage risk relating to quality, cost, delivery and supply of purchases ensuring best value proposition for the Group.
• Deliver the tendering process and make recommendations, based on commercial, market, business and technical factors.
• Forecast price and market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer-supplier power.
• Control spend and build a culture of long-term benefits.
• Develop & monitor ongoing compliance with purchasing policies and procedures.
• Conduct research to ascertain the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality.
• Partner with stakeholders to execute projects, new menu launches and new product development
• Work with relevant external stakeholders to manage inventory requirements.
• Assess the supply chain efficiency, finding ways to reduce the organisation's expenditures, and selecting, appointing and meeting suppliers to negotiate prices and contracts
• Ensure administrative tasks supporting the management of the categories and smooth running of the end to end supply chain are executed in a timely and efficient manner
• Support the Procurement Team in ensuring the Supply Chain helpdesk is resourced to deliver optimum service to Operations teams


We are looking for:

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in buying, ideally in a retail or food service environment
• Strong analytical skills

• Strong oral and written communication skills

• Talent in negotiations and networking
• The ability to make important decisions
• Thrive with the pressure of demanding targets and tight deadlines
• Knowledge of sourcing and procurement techniques as well as a dexterity in “reading” the market
