Commercial Account Manager B&I - Kings Cross, London

An Opportunity as an Account Manager has come up in our Commercial business. Working alongside a Key Account Manager and department head to manage, retain, and grow existing Business & Industry accounts to achieve annual sales and margin targets, by working smartly and always innovating.

Co-managing a portfolio of ~300 accounts with an expected annual turnover of ~£2.5million this person will be responsible for a range of accounts from multi-site Contract Catering companies to event companies and large corporates in sectors such as marketing, finance, retail, law and media. In this role you will also be generating new business sales.

This is the perfect role for a driven, ambitious and commercially minded Trainee or Assistant Manager who is ready to take a step up to the next level and work strategically with management to grow the business.

Responsibilities in the role:

Existing Business

  • Work alongside KAM to ensure optimum retention rates and actively grow existing account base to help achieve sales growth and increased profitability
  • Be the known office based point of contact for your set customer base
  • Communicate accurately and efficiently answering all customer queries in a timely manner
  • Process orders accurately and within agreed deadlines
  • Develop strong relationships with customers and deliver exceptional customer service on the telephone and by email
  • Attend existing business meetings and events, work with the KAM to deliver solutions to improve profitability
  • Work to make every customer’s wine list as profitable as possible by regularly reviewing and understanding their needs and profit targets, whilst maximising our sales and margin
  • Use wine knowledge and market intelligence to recommend appropriate products to customers based on their buying criteria
  • Resolve problems swiftly and professionally, with effective communication between all relevant parties

New Business

  • Work alongside KAM to seek out and win new business accounts to help achieve sales growth and increased profitability
  • Source, research, vet and qualify leads to meet spend criteria
  • Follow up leads in a timely and appropriate way, providing details and costs needed in an email or proposal
  • Help to manage the process from pitch to the first order, checking stock, and managing the credit applications
  • Deliver exceptional post sale customer service, ensuring all keys part of the proposal are implemented
  • Actively and accurately use all the tools available to help achieve sales growth and increased profitability

What We are Looking for:  

  • A person who people like dealing with - a relationship and rapport builder.
  • A passion for wine and study, having achieved WSET level 3 or above, and with the ability to use that passion to talk, inspire, and build trust.
  • Someone with a strong eye for detail.
  • Credibility within the wine trade and comfortable dealing with people at all levels.
  • An entrepreneur - you think and do for yourself, and can sniff out the money.
  • Humbleness. There is always dirty work to be done.
  • A person who commands respect, rather than demands it. By being credible, unflappable and dignified under pressure, proactive, mature and fiercely self-driven.
