Senior SQL Consultant
Asda are recruiting for a Senior SQL Consultant to be based at Asda House in Leeds. In this job, you'll report to the Senior Manager for Data Management and Analytics in the Application Development and Maintenance department. You will be accountable for managing the Fasttrack Data Warehouse) and deliver data developments as directed by Development Manager. These solutions will be used by up to 200,000 colleagues and impact our 20 million+ regular customers. You will be a key member of teams made up of internal and external resource, both on-shore and in our Offshore Development Centres in Bangalore and Kolkata. Through your role you will develop new working relationships with Walmart colleagues.

What you'll need:
- Strong technical skills in SQL Server Administration
- Experience in managing a large scale datawarehouse with large transactional volumes
- Strong technical skills in Microsoft BI Stack (SSAS,SSIS, SSRS).
- Deep understanding of data warehousing design principles (Kimball / Immon methodologies).
- Experienced in monitoring and analysing performance issues
- Excellent communications skills
- Ability to work well under pressure
Responsibilities
- Review database change scripts and offer feedback and coaching to others where required
- Perform troubleshooting of Datawarehouse performance issues. Optimise poorly running queries.
- Input into the database design of BI projects
- Maintain and evolve the Datawarehouse design and development standards
- Advise developers on the most efficient Datawarehouse database designs (tables, datatypes, stored procedures, indexes etc)
- Assessing the impact of changes, ensuring the availability and performance of systems are not affected
- Consult and advise on project architecture and direction
- Provide full out of hours support to live platforms
- Pro-actively identify better ways of working and efficiency savings in the team
- Responsible for the technical delivery of the assigned projects to budget, time and quality
- Working with QA to manage defects; challenging, agreeing and fixing where appropriate
- Pro-actively monitor project risk and escalate to the Application Development Team Manager and Project Manager
- Manage Microsoft BI Stack (SSRS, SSAS) across all environments
