About the role:
An exciting new role within the Asda Pharmacy team in Asda House, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in optimising the profitability through an ongoing process of reviewing Asda's purchasing strategies across key categories. You will be involved in the management of supplier relationships to ensure service levels and profit targets are achieved.
This is a challenging buying role with a complex P&L and encompasses the requirement to work across a variety of functions within the Asda business and our supplier network to deliver success for Pharmacy.
The successful candidate will be involved in an area of the business that has demonstrated strong growth and supports our mission of saving our customers money to live better.
This is your opportunity to join the team as we embark upon our plans to deliver our 3 year Category Strategy which aims to unlock the potential Healthcare has for the Asda customer and the business.

The ins & outs:
  1. Drive Sales and Profit growth within Asda Pharmacy
  2. Deliver sales and profit growth ahead of the market
  3. Understand & monitor the Pharmacy industry in order to drive benefit to Asda
  4. Deliver Cost of Goods reductions through both generic and branded medicine manufacturers
  5. Ensure market leading availability through working with key suppliers.
  6. Monitor and report on activities and provide relevant management reports on a weekly / monthly / quarterly basis.
  7. Understanding of the NHS and the associated Pharmacy Funding Models and how these will affect the Asda business.
  8. Support the Commercial Manager in the delivery of strategic initiatives
What you'll need:
  1. Strong analytical abilities and sound financial awareness - strong excel skills
  2. Commercial acumen and a great negotiator
  3. Experience and broad understanding of the pharmacy market is desired
  4. The ability to set and meet strict deadlines
  5. The ability to identify new opportunities
  6. A self-starter with drive, tenacity and a passion for their business
  7. The ability to work cross functionally and communicate well at all levels
